Vioxx
On September 30, 2004, the manufacturer of Vioxx announced it would voluntarily recall the drug, after a clinical study showed that users were at an increased risk of suffering a heart attack. This drug was also found to elevate the risk of stroke. Furthermore, an article in the Wall Street Journal on October 6, 2004, reported Vioxx may have led to 27,000 heart attacks and cardiac deaths before it was removed from the market.
